Read Across America Week!

If you would like to come and read to our class this Wednesday please email me. I am very flexible with the time on that day.

Tuesday: Please send a beach towel with your child. We will be doing our D.E.A.R. time outside if the weather permits. Also, we will keep the beach towels at school until Friday just in case we decide to go outside to read again in honor of Read Across America Week.

Wedesday: Volunteers will come and read.  Please turn in the homework that came home last week about your character for the parade, along with your sign that you will be carrying in the parade. The sign needs to have the book title and character on it. I have found that attaching it with ribbon or yarn works very well around their necks.

Thursday: SILLY HAT DAY: wear a silly hat in honor of Dr. Seuss.

Friday: Character Parade at 9:30. Plese make sure your child comes to school dressed in a character from a book. Everybody participates in the parade. If you would like to watch the parade, please go to the lunchroom.

Book orders are due this Wednesday.  You may send your order in with a check to Scholastic or you  may order online with our class code K2YLD.

We are in great need of Anti-bacterial wipes for our classroom.

The money is due for class pictures this Friday if you haven't purchased one and would like to.

PTA Around the World Night this Tuesday at 6:00!

You don't want to miss PTA this Tuesday at 6:00.  Your family will enjoy Around the World Night greatly! I will even make sure this is a homework free night for your child.

If you are able to send in 18 white gift bags with handles for Valentines please email me and let me know.  Thanks!

Your child brought home a President Report last week that will be due February 21st.  This date is different from the other 2nd grade classes so much sure you go by our date.  This gives your child a little more time to prepare.  Please notice that your child is doing the work and the illustrations.  This should be a fun learning experience for your child.  Also, I have had several kids ask me if they are allowed to dress up like their President.  ABSOLUTELY! Of course this isn't required, but they are certainly allowed to for their presentation if they would like.  We have a classroom full of creative minds, so I am not surprised at all that I was asked this question.  Please feel free to let your child add any extra touches to their project and presentation.
Please be sure to include all of the required pages for the book as well.

We have finished our study on Weight and Balance in Science and have moved back to our Science book.  Your child very responsibly copied their Science Voc. for Chapter 5 in their binder.  They have the word highlighted in yellow with the definition following.  We will begin this chapter Monday.  I wanted them to have their voc. words ahead of time.

We are learning about past Presidents in Social Studies.  We have had the best time finding out some very interesting facts already.  For example, have your child explain to you about George Washington and his teeth, OR LACK OF, we should say! :)

Thank you for responding so quickly to the letter that came home about our Valentine Party.  The kids are so excited! Your child brought home a list of every child in our classroom.  Please make sure they have a Valentine for each child if they are participating.  This is such a fun time for the kids!

Your child brought home a yearbook presale sheet last week.  The presale price is only good until March 23rd.

Please email me with any questions or concerns.  Have a super week!
