Our Spelling test will be this Thursday due to the day off on Friday.

Don't forget to study a little each night on the Science Voc. words.  We will test on them NEXT week.  I have told the kids to study a few minutes every night so that by the time we have the test the words will be a breeze for them.  The test will be Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, March 20th or 21st.

We will continue with graphing this week in Math.  We will be ready for a test this Thursday.
This past Friday we spent another day working on range, median, and mode.  The Range is the difference between the greatest number and the least number.  The Median is the number in the middle.  The Mode is the number that appears the most often.  Your child brought home a review sheet on this last Thursday in their binder.  By Friday, it was easy breezy for us to find these three things.

In Social Studies we are going to be creating our own community.  In order to do this, we are going to need many magazines to pull things out of.  If you have old magazines around your house or you know somebody that does, please send them in to us.  We will put them to great use.

WOW was I impressed at how perfectly we behaved at the Davis Theater this past week on our field trip.  Not only were we displaying our very best manners, we were dressed in our very best!! I was so proud to be with such a sharp looking group! Your child represents you so well! Thanks for all you do to make your child the best they can be! It certainly shows!

Have a great week!

American Education Week

Field Trip Monday to the Davis Theater!

WOW!

What am amazing week we had celebrating American Education Week!!!  Thank you so much for all of the preparations you had to do at home to make it a fantastic week for your child! I can tell you that your child definitely appreciated it! The slideshow will be a little lengthy but your child will love watching it with you.

Remember that we are going to the Davis Theater tomorrow - March 5th to see Grimm's Fairy Tales.  The School buses are scheduled to leave the school at 9:00.  If you are chaperoning, you may follow the bus from the school or meet us there at 9:15.  Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast, we will be getting back to the school a little later than our normal lunch time.  Also, remember that we are "dressing up" for the play.  We have also rehearsed our very best manners and we have them ready to use.  Blount Elementary will be represented well at the Davis Theater.
We were able to have 5 chaperons because another 2nd grade teacher only had 3 for her class.  The following chaperons for our class are Hildebrand, Harrison, Smith, McDevitt, and Robinson.  Please email me if you have any questions at all.

Donuts for Dads is this week!!!  March 6th is Dads A-L  and March 7th is Dads M-Z.

We have a Weather Day off coming up March 16th.  This was a weather day that we fortunately didn't have to use this year.  Hopefully we'll have beautiful weather that day to enjoy!

This Week
Story: One Dark Night

Phonics: Prefixes un-, re-, pre-, dis-
Voc. Strategy: Context Clues
Comp. Skill: Sequence
Comp. Strategy: Graphic Organizer

This week a new study guide will come home for new Science Voc. words.  I am sending it very early so your child can practice just a tiny bit at a time.  That way when test time gets here the words are easy breezy for them.  I remind the kids to keep it in a safe spot so it isn't lost.  They will also bring home a voc. book with the words that is beneficial when studying.

Thanks for all you do! I appreciate each of you so much!
