The Book Fair is April 3rd - 9th

Welcome Back! I hope everybody had a wonderful Spring Break!

The Book Fair is coming up this week.  When we go to preview it I have the kids take a piece of paper so they can write down books and prices to discuss with you.  I wanted to make sure you knew that there are also toys available.  Please specify to your child what they are allowed to buy.  I send the kids to the library two at a time to shop.

We will have another graded timed Math Drill toward the end of April.  Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts daily.  We are taking practice drills weekly.  The kids are making excellent progress.

Jump Rope For Heart

Don't forget that Jump Rope For Heart is this Week.  The money is due this Tuesday.  Coach Grant isn't taking the money before Tuesday.  Students will be participating during their specialist time this Wednesday.  Please remember to return the permission slip form.  Also, make sure your child has comfortable jump roping shoes on this Wednesday.  Please email me if you have any questions.

Spring Pictures will be taken this Thursday, March 20th.

We had a very important family meeting about lunchroom manners and behavior last week.  I want the kids to be able to sit where they want, and quietly talk to each other as they are eating.  I like for this to be their time to visit, because they are working so hard while in class.  If you feel like your child may need a little more reminding of lunchroom manners please discuss them together.  The kids know that they will receive a conduct sheet without a warning if manners are not used.  We don't ever play with our food or demolish our lunchroom plates.  We keep our hands to ourselves, and we use quiet voices as we visit.  We also need to remember to eat as we visit so we are done when it's time to leave.

A great big thank-you to all of you that are sending in items for our St. Patrick's Day treat tomorrow!

We had so much fun celebrating our love of reading last week! I know without a doubt that we celebrated something that we LOVE in Room 124! A great big thank you to all of you that were able to help us.

Please be sure to check your child's take home folder.  Several items have been coming home lately that you need to take a look at.  If your child ordered our class picture it was in their binder Friday.  Coach Grant sent home the Jump Rope for Heart information last week.  Yearbook order forms also came home last week.  Don't forget to sign your child's reading log nightly.

I was incredibly proud of the test grades for our last Math test on Money and Telling Time.  I would encourage you to continue to work on these very important skills at home with your child.  We will also continue to practice at school.

Celebrating Read Across America Week!

Your child brought home a sheet with all of the things we will be doing this week to celebrate Read Across America Week.  Please refer to the sheet so your child will know what to do for each day.
Don't forget to send a beach towel with your child Monday for D.E.A.R. time.
If you would like to volunteer to read to our class Wednesday, please email me so we can work out a time.  We have several volunteers coming throughout the day.  If I have any parents that would like to send a special snack or treat to go along with a Dr. Seuss book we would love it!
Don't forget about the Character Parade this Friday.  Your child needs to pick a character out of a book to dress up as.  Your child needs a simple sign to wear around their neck during the parade.  Homework regarding the character parade came home Friday.  That is due on Friday.  The parade will begin at 2:00.  If you would like to come and watch the parade just head straight to the lunchroom before 2:00.  Please email me if you have any questions.
